Sedation Dentistry

Sedation Dentistry offers the patient a relaxed and comfortable visit to the dentist. During these visits, the patient can have years of dental treatment completed in as few as one or two appointments.

Below are some answers to common questions about Sedation Dentistry:

Sedation Dentistry Facts:

Sedation dentistry works by putting the patient into a relaxed but conscious state.

You will be given a small pill, helping you relax throughout the whole appointment.

While in this relaxed state, you can have numerous dental procedures performed that would have taken several appointments otherwise.

Your fear and anxiety of going to the dentist will no longer be a factor.

Who Can Benefit from Sedation Dentistry:

Patients who have fear or anxiety about visiting the dentist are good candidates. This includes patients who are afraid of needles, sounds, tastes, smells associated with visiting the dentist.

If you have a gag reflex, you may also be a good candidate for sedation.

Because numerous dental procedures can be performed on the same visit, you are a good candidate if you have numerous dental problems or a limited amount of time.

If you've suffered a traumatic dental experience and now have a heightened fear of the dentist, sedation dentistry can make your visit to the dentist a relaxing and comfortable visit.

What To Expect On The Day Of Your Sedation Appointment:

You will be given a pill to take prior to your sedation appointment. You will need to bring along a friend to take you home after your treatment is completed.

When you arrive at your appointment, you will be escorted to one of our chairs and your vitals will be monitored. You will be made as comfortable as possible including blankets and pillows to keep you warm and comfy. While you are relaxing, Dr. Vu and the Center for Dental Excellence team will perform all of the required dental procedures.

After your procedures are completed, your friend will escort you back home.
